COMFORT ZONES

Interesting topic- but also a very interesting place to either find yourself in or not in…..

Cause I mean, what does that actually mean, and what does that look like? Certainly something different to different individuals.

Also, not something that can be characterised by whether it is right or wrong, cause we all want something different from this life and we all find happiness in different things and places.

Our tolerance and ability to expand is very different. Our want to change and make space for the new and the unknown is very different.

Just as most other things in life- Practice makes perfect.  But I mean one needs to practice and be given the opportunity to do so.

“Given the opportunity to do so”, what is the real effect of this statement and does this affect your ability and want to move out of comfort zones, face the fear zone push through the learning zone and then benefit from the growth.

Why is moving out of comfort zones so easy for some?  Why are some individuals less scared to take that first jump, to make that first move, to buy that ticket, so say that first hello, to give that first step?

Why are the dare devils the dare devils- and where did they get taught to do and love the things they do?  When and by whom are we taught to get out of comfort zones?

Or is this maybe a thing that only life can teach us?  Is our acceptance of getting out of our comfort zones determined by the way we are brought up?  For me personally, your acceptance is clearly influenced by previous life experiences and overcoming previous comfort zones- It’s about building tolerance- capacity.

It’s a risk thing- its your willingness and ability to deal with uncertainty and take that risk.

And there are so many comfort zones, so many “safe spaces”  that we either created for ourself or life has pushed us into or ones our parents brought us up in.  So many of them.

There’s this quote: “A comfort zone is a beautiful place- but nothing ever grows there.”  And it is very true, you will never become more and better.  You will never learn new things and see new places, you will never push yourself and see what you are really great at if you choose to stay in your comfort zone.  A ship is always safe at the shore, but that is not what it is built for.

Sometime or the other life might request of you to take that jump, to make that choice, to give that first step and it might be insanely daunting and whether you take that jump or not what awaits on the other side might either be a massive growth opportunity and a few other open doors or another lifetime in your comfort zone.

No matter what you choose don’t ever let fear influence that decision or path. Don’t let fear be the reason you make yourself small, don’t let fear be the reason you cut your wings.

Take that jump, and grow, whether it ends good or bad, you will learn and you will be stronger on the other side.
