OR Tambo, South Africa to Newark International airport, New York.
And so, you started off with a two-hour delay, first class lounge it was for us. It gave me time to breathe and get done what couldn’t be done in the craziness of the day.
“There’s 10 minutes left, take your time” took us from a two-hour delay to “This is the last boarding call for Mr. and Mrs. Burger. So yes, we were the last two people to board Flight UA187 to New York.
My first ever business class flight and I missed the champagne.
I was so excited, amazed and found myself wanting to take pictures of everything. Everything from the individual pods to the slippers, pyjamas, blanket and vanity bag.
I played around with the seat a bit and to my surprise and my not so tech savvy nature I quickly figured out how the functions worked. Dinner was interesting, from Grilled prawn with rooibos panna cotta (who in this world can get that in their bodies) to Buffalo mozzarella (that says it all).
At least the Gary Farrell Russian River Pinot Noir 2022 and the seared Lamb lion was fantastic and worth writing about.
Off course the Pinot noir took me from super excited to “moerse” laid back, I’m lying, I was super tired, halfway asleep and lethargic.
Typically, Johanita on wine.
Listen, at least I figured out the seat.
The Pj’s were comfortable and getting to lie flat on your back and sleep an absolute bliss. The space and privacy of the pods are certainly something I will miss if I must fly economy again.
We arrived in New York at 06:30 and could at least book our bags in before exploring Jersey City. Our next flight to Minneapolis is at 14:00 so we have a few hours to explore and still be back at Newark before our flight…
“Moerse” excited for the rest of your journey.
