Jogging has always been a place, or should I say places I escape to. It has allowed me to see things and experience places I would otherwise not.
It gives you time to think and clear your mind and thoughts. It gives you fresh air and sunshine on your skin, it allows you to see secret places and appreciate the little things you find along the way.
I loved jogging on the farm where I grew up as a child. We had this 2km dirt road that I almost conquered every day of my life. I just loved the smell of freshly ploughed ground, hearing the dogs run alongside me and feeling the heat on my skin as the sun came along.
The farm was sold, around 2 years back and I could not enjoy that piece of land any more.
I was then blessed to find myself in Irene, a suburb in Pretoria South Africa. Irene has this little piece of farm land and a dairy with a big herd of Holstein's, in the middle of the concrete and everyday hustle. This place became my new heaven. I could go out every day and just enjoy the smell of farm, feel the fresh air on my skin and enjoy the calves sucking on my fingers. (Yes this is absolutely a Johanita thing)
Irene farm became one of my most favourite jogging spots ever and will most probably be forever in my top 10 best jogging spots.
